About This Directory

A plumbing-only directory for Auckland. Every listing licence-checked, price ranges published.

Why this site exists

Search for a plumber in Auckland and you get two kinds of results. Solo operators with a website, two Google reviews and no way to tell whether they still hold a current licence. Or the big all-trades directories that list plumbers next to painters and pest control, where the top spot goes to whoever pays the most, not whoever does the best work in your suburb.

Neither tells you the thing you actually want to know before you ring anyone: what will this job roughly cost, and is this person licensed to do it? Almost nobody in the Auckland plumbing market publishes prices. So homeowners ring three numbers, get three vague answers, and too often find out about the callout fee after the van has already arrived.

This directory exists to fix that. It covers one trade, in one city, and it publishes the numbers.

What we do

  • Licence-check every listing. Before a plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer goes live in the directory, we check their name against the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) public register. Most plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying work in New Zealand legally requires a current PGDB licence — an unlicensed listing is worse than no listing.
  • Publish honest price ranges. Our Auckland price guide gives real ranges for common jobs — hourly rates, callout fees, drain unblocking, hot water cylinder replacement — so you can spot a quote that's out of line. These are indicative ranges, not quotes, and we say so.
  • Flag genuine 24/7 operators. Plenty of plumbers say "emergency service" and then let after-hours calls go to voicemail. Our emergency hub only flags operators who actually answer after-hours callouts, with typical emergency rates noted.

Independence

Some plumbers pay for Featured placement in the directory. Two things to know about that:

  • Featured listings are always clearly badged. If a listing is paid placement, you can see it.
  • The vetting is identical for free and paid listings. Paying does not skip the licence check, and it never will. If a featured plumber loses their licence, they lose their listing — same as everyone else.

We're a directory, not a plumbing company. We don't do the work, we don't take a cut of the job, and we don't hide who's paying us.
